Umbrella Insurance

Umbrella Insurance

What Does Umbrella Insurance Cover?

Personal umbrella insurance provides coverage when your liability exceeds the limits of your homeowner's, auto, and boat insurance. The umbrella policy provides our customers with 1 to 10 million dollars additional coverage.

The Personal Umbrella Policy protects you from major claims and lawsuits in two ways:

  1. Provides additional liability coverage above the limits of your homeowner's, auto, and boat or any other recreational vehicle insurance policies.
  2. Provides coverage for claims that may be excluded by other liability policies including:
    • False Arrest
    • Libel
    • Slander
    • Liability coverage for rental units you own.

Do You Need Umbrella Coverage?

Here are 3 steps to help you determine if you should have an Umbrella policy.

  1. Add up your assets - the value of your home, money in the bank, stocks, bonds, other assets, and available funds from a 401(k) or other retirement plan.
  2. See how much liability coverage you have on your home, auto, and an other policies.
  3. Determine if your current liability policies cover your assets.

Are You Fully Protected?

Not if your assets exceed your insurance coverage. If there’s a gap between your assets and your insurance coverage, you should consider an umbrella policy. An umbrella policy provides additional liability coverage above the limits of your current policies, and it protects you from situations not covered by ordinary liability policies, such as false arrest or slander.

Do you qualify For An Umbrella Policy?

To be eligible for umbrella insurance, you must have liability insurance-homeowner's, auto, and boat insurance (if applicable)- that is at least equal to certain required limits of coverage.
